Summary:
You are being re-directed to instructions on
how to update Symantec Anti-Virus using LiveUpdate
Description:
Anti-virus Software is required to be kept up-to-date with the most
current protection against viruses. If the Clean Access Agent detects that
your copy of Symantec Anti-virus is out of date, you will required to update
it before accessing the network.
You are currently being placed in a
Temporary Role with limited network
access to perform the necessary updates. Depending on which updates are
missing, you may be required to perform several reboots.

Q: I'm running McAfee or TrendMicro Anti-Virus, how do I keep it updated?
A: Symantec Anti-virus is the official Anti-virus client for UNC Charlotte,
therefore we cannot provide support for other products. If you have
questions about your installation of McAfee or TrendMicro, please contact
their support services. The UNC Charlotte Helpdesk cannot provide assistance
for these products.
Symantec Corporate Installation Instructions:
1. Double click the gold Symantec Logo in
your Windows Taskbar (circled in red). If necessary click "<<" to view the
Symantec icon.

2. The Symantec AntiVirus screen will be displayed. Click the LiveUpdate
button (circled in red).

3. You will be presented with the LiveUpdate wizard. Click the Next
button to continue.

4. A download progress bar will indicate the update status.

5. When the updates have been successfully downloaded, you will see a
screen similar to this one. Click Finish to complete the update process.

6. Network Services also recommends changing the default schedule for
LiveUpdate. From the Main Symantec Window, Click File and select Schedule
Updates...

7. Click Schedule.

8. Select Daily.

9. Click Advanced. Check Perform update within plus or minus: and Click
OK.

10. OK out of all the menus to confirm your schedule.
11. Close the Symantec Anti-Virus window, return to the Clean Access
Agent and click Next. If there are additional steps that need to be take
before you can access the network, you will be given instructions on what to
do.
